Happy 2nd Birthday Seth!

Ever since we went to see Toy Story 3 for cousin Caleb's birthday Seth has been obsessed with Buzz Lightyear (Seth pronunciation: Buh Liyer). So we decided to do a Toy Story/Buzz Lightyear themed birthday party. Seth was totally on board with the idea. A few days before the party we started the countdown with him. Ella and I would cheer "3 more days until your birthday!" and Seth would reply "Buh liyer birthday!"

In true birthday craziness fashion on the day of the party things got hectic. Wendy watched Ella so April and I could take Seth and Tate (best buds) out for pre-party fun. As soon as we got to the farm Wendy called to say that Ella was running a fever. Of course. She seemed to be okay so we stayed at the farm. An hour later my Dad called and said they had caught an earlier flight home and needed to be picked up 3 hours earlier. I won't go into the details of the craziness but somehow everyone was picked up and all fevers were gone by the time the party started. It was a birthday miracle! A big thank you to everyone who helped out, especially April.

Chelsea generously volunteered to make the cake for Seth's party. She saw this amazing cake on Martha Stewart. Inside there were 3 layers of different colored cake. Well as with most things it turned into quite a project. The 1 hour Chelsea thought it would take turned into 3 hours but we all agreed that it was worth the effort. All I had to make were the alien cupcakes which it turned out were a little trickier than I had expected.

I bought Seth a Buzz Lightyear costume for the party and he had been wearing it all week but on the big night he didn't seem interested. Literally the day before the party he had come into my room at 6 am with the costume in hand begging me to put it on him. Ella decided that someone needed to wear it, so she threw it right on.

The big cake slicing. Where the beautiful layers were revealed. Thanks Chels!

Seth chose the alien cupcake. Surprisingly he didn't get all that messy. I guess he is maturing.

Onto the presents! Seth got spoiled rotten just like every 2 year old birthday boy should. It was so much fun to see him open presents because he got a lot of Buzz Lightyear stuff. Every time he opened a present he would look shocked and exclaim "Buh Liyer!!!" like he was genuinely surprised that it was another Buzz Lightyear related present. Thank you to everyone for the wonderful gifts!

Seth with the Buzz Lighyear doll from Mommy and Daddy. He loved pushing the buttons and still does. Buzz and Woody sleep in Seth's bed every night now. Yes, Ella and Kaylie ended up in princess dresses as the night progressed. It was inevitable.

The big 2 year old with his huge haul. Next time you see Seth you'll have to ask him how old he is because he loves holding up two crossed fingers and saying "I'm 2 old."

What an adorable boy he is--and what a good Mom to make such a memorable event for your little one. Great pictures--such a fun time had by all.
