Some very brave kids standing dangerously close to the lions mouth!
The parking lot in front of the zoo was completely full and we were directed to the secret entrance in the back. There was no one else there and we were in within seconds. The one drawback-we had to walk up an excruciatingly steep hill to get back to our cars upon our departure.
Ella picked the snow leopard and Caleb picked the Zebra just in front. Then midway through the ride Ella transferred to the cheetah and Caleb moved to the anteater.
We went to the bird show just before this but I neglected to take pictures. It is very fun but if you have seen it once you don't need to go again. I was surprised at how few pictures I took at the zoo. I thought I had taken a lot more. I guess it just proves we were having too much fun.

The baby elephant Zuri is always so fun to see. When we came they were not in their pen. Then a few minutes later they came out and the keepers turned on the hose and squirted them down. The baby was so animated and loved playing in the water. She even took a drink from the hose.
Seth loves the elephants but he just kept asking for the "diles" (crocodiles).
Ella and I were walking toward the reptile house and walked right past the "diles" in their new outdoor habitat. Luckily Aunt Amy and Aunt April spotted it before we went in. Here's Caleb with the money shot.
Ella posing with her crocodile shirt in front of her beloved crocodiles. Seth was very excited as well. I think if we came to the zoo and saw nothing but the reptile house the kids would be satisfied.
Caleb and Ella next to the baby Siamese Crocodile who is almost a year old and very cute, for a reptile.
We stopped for some ice cream near the tigers before our hike back to our cars. Tate came over to chat it up with Seth and Seth being polite offered him a bite or two or three. They are such good pals!
Next we stopped at This is the Place Heritage Park for some pioneer fun.
Three great people.
At Heritage park you can stop at different houses and they have crafts or pioneer activities for the kids. All the employees are in costume and most are very friendly. Here the kids are learning how people used to wash clothes. They quite enjoyed it.
The little boys did great. I am going to have to put Seth to work.
Ella was a natural at hanging laundry.
Ella told me not to worry about the ironing. "Mom it's not even too hot for me!"
Caleb really took to the pioneer games. He liked catching the bean bag in the can and he rocked at the ring tossing.
Tater and Seth very much liked banging things with their sticks.
One lady ,who apparently had a stick somewhere we won't discuss, kept taking the sticks away from the boys. I don't know why, they were doing perfectly harmless things like sticking them in the dirt and hitting bushes with them. There was certainly no unpioneer like conduct. I think actual pioneer mothers would be jazzed that their young boys were playing with sticks so they could get some laundry done!
Learning how to play ring toss. Caleb figured it out on the first try and then taught Ella.
Candle dipping was really fun and easy. While we were waiting in line for our turn Ella said something sassy to me. A pioneer woman overheard it and said "I don't want to hear you talking like that to your mother or you will come inside and clean my house!" Ella completely seriously replied "Okay, what can I clean?" Total backfire.
The finished candles after much dipping.
Unlike most kiddie pony rides which go extremely slow these actually picked up some speed. The ropes were pretty loose and when the horses turned they swerved quite a bit. It actually looked pretty fun.
Aren't you supposed to ride side saddle in a skirt?
Tater loved the horses and wasn't a bit scared.
Just in case you didn't believe me here is some more proof.
Caleb wearing Aunt April's sun hat.
A cute little pioneer boy helped the kids with the chickens and ducks.
Tate checking out the chickens.
The kids loved petting the animals. They had just put out food for the goats and sheep and so the kids had a captive audience.
Tate sharing the love.
Seth was extremely helpful and made sure all the animals got food, whether they wanted it or not.
Seth and Caleb checking on the pigs. Yep, still dirty and stinky.
They have a cute little playhouse village that the kids loved. Ella decided that she a Caleb were going to move to the firehouse and she began directing him as to where to put the furniture.
Ella and Caleb relocating furniture into their firehouse. Ella has decided that when she grows up she would like to be a mother, a crocodile feeder, and a fire chief.
The little buddies at it again. It was funny how niether one of them would sit on the little benches in the train. They either stood up or sat on the ground.
Seth loves anything that has a steering wheel.
A very fun and busy day and two kids who slept very well that night.

Every single one of these pics are adorable! Makes me want some sugars.
Those kids are too dang cute.
Really cute pictures! By the way, I love Ella's skirt. I bet she was easy to spot in the crowd. I gotta remember that for our adventures.
