This was the first year of the Thanksgiving Point half marathon to support the construction of the new museum of natural curiosity. Since we love Thanksgiving Point, my running buddy, Wendy, and I decided we had to do it. We left at 6 in the morning and it was extremely cold. The race started at 7 and was very beautiful, challenging and fun! My only complaint was that the first 4 miles were extremely narrow. We got stuck behind a bunch of people and it was almost impossible to pass anyone. Once we got out of the gardens and onto a real trail it was wonderful. I finished at 2 hours 11 minutes and I was pleasantly surprised to see my family at the finish line. I assumed Rob would come around 10 after feeding the kids and bathing and dressing them. The kids woke up early at 6 when I left and Rob must have taken advantage of the early wake up. He even remembered the diaper bag and stroller. What a guy!

Me realizing my family was there!
Ella racing to meet me at the finish. Running is in her blood.
The race coincided with the annual baby animal birthday party at the farm. They have birthday cake and party games and animal naming contests. Unfortunately they did not select any of the names Ella chose. I don't know why, Machama is a perfectly wonderful name for a cow.
Petting the baby goat, which Ella wanted to name Alito. I don't know why they didn't pick that one either, it was good enough for a supreme court justice.
Ella being especially brave. Seth had no problem putting his fingers in the animals mouths but he drew the line at riding on the horse's back.
They had a playroom where you could plant crops and harvest them. Then you could carry them to a conveyor belt where they would arrive at a grocery store. Very fun.
Ella's favorite vegetable, corn. I don't believe it should qualify as a vegetable, seeing as how the variety of corn we grow has little to no nutritional value, but it sure does taste good.
Seth was totally psyched to do the milk jug toss. He kept chanting "ball ball ball" while he waited in line. He totally nailed it and he savored his laffy taffy prize.
Two words...cow train! The kids go nuts for this thing. I don't know why because it is the most bumpy uncomfortable ride ever. Luckily Ella was secure enough to ride solo and Seth was too busy yelling at the ducks to be interested. I'm pretty sure my knees couldn't have taken it after that run.
Ella and her dear friend Kaylie (my running buddy Wendy's daughter) riding in good old Elsie.
After the celebration we went home and everyone took a huge nap.

I think I might have slept for days after such a crazy morning! We might have to do a little run together if I come to Utah this summer. What a fun thing to do with your kids too. I'm always impressed with your family outings. Good work!
