Summer 2011

The Hogle Zoo played host to some really cool animatronic dinosaurs for the summer.  They called it "Zoorassic Park" and Seth still calls the zoo that even after the exhibit has moved.   Seth was a little scared of the huge T Rex.  In his defense it roared pretty loud and moved which added to the scariness.  He took some convincing and a promises of being held the whole time to come see him. However Ella thought it was great.

The old Conservation Carousel.  It is always such a production to make sure everyone has the animal that they want.  Sometimes we have to wait another cycle to make sure the coveted animal is secured.
This time Ella chose the penguin, probably in honor of the new penguin exhibit at the aquarium because the penguins at the zoo have been relocated due to construction on the new Rocky Shores habitat.

Seth looked like he was enjoying his sea otter.

Joshie was hanging out in his chariot and Seth requested to "help" him drink his bottle. I think Josh was just happy to have someone to lean against.  Seth loves to help little ones.  He is a very sweet boy.

This T Rex was one that you could actually climb on.  After waiting in line in the hot sun to finally get our turn to take a picture, Seth decided it was not worth it.  I don't blame you buddy.

This dinosaur was really fun.  I can't remember its name but it spit water which is all you really need to know.

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays.  It may have something to do with the fun family parties we have.  Most of the extended Rollins family flies in from around the country for parade, pool and bbq fun at Grandma Rollins' house.  Then we head to my Mom's sisters house for pool, bbq and fireworks and more cousin fun.

Cute Seth laying low under the canopy to beat the heat.  All the kids love to put their chairs out in the road for front row seats to the parade action. Ella is the one in blue with the bob.

When the BYU cougars come by all the kids get psyched.  Usually Cosmo Cougar is on hand for high fives.

Cousins AND Cotton candy at a parade, can life get any better.  Well it's about to.
After the parade everyone is pretty hot and hungry.  We head to Grandma's for an amazing lunch.  Two of my cousins do the best pulled pork you've ever had and there is also Ella's favorite, ham.  Once you're stuffed on deliciousness it's the perfect time for swimming.

This was the first 4th of July, I can remember, that it wasn't swelteringly hot.  We all appreciated it but it was still nice to jump in the pool.

After the Rollins festivities we headed to Sandy for some Petersen family fun.  Aunt Jill always puts on a fun shindig.  There are lots of contests and games.  Most patriotic toenail polish, and best cake decoration were my favorites.

Oh ya, and the kids went swimming, again.

Seth loved playing with all the cute little cousins and all the treats.

Here are Seth and cousin Abbyanne shooting at everyone down below with noodles.

Grandpa provided a lot of airplane rides that day.  Once you do it for one child suddenly there is a line for more turns.  With around 20 kids at the party that made for a good workout I'm sure.

Pirate Adventure day at the Dinosaur Museum.  My kids love themed anything, so this was a definite must attend.

The kids loved making their very own pirate hats which they proudly wore for days.

Posing with their finished products.  In one room they had these very convincing pirates telling tales and helping the kids build nut shell pirate boats.  Seth was so scared of them that he clutched me the entire time.  Until the meanest looking pirate walked across the room to bring Seth a pirate boat and let him hold his blunderbuss.  Seth is now unafraid of pirates.

Decorative spy glasses in the making.

It is pretty much a given to stop for ice cream on any of our Thanksgiving Point excursions.  Here is Seth casually eating his cone with a spoon. If you have ever seen him eat a cone you know why I gave him a spoon.

I love the look on his face here.  Zoned out bliss.
Ella is a big more delicate with her ice cream.

Or is she?

I loved the cute Fourth of July decor they had.  I think we may have to craft some for next 4th.

The kids love it when Uncle J comes to visit.  This is pretty much how they are the entire time he is over, glued to him.

I think this is the most precious picture.  This is Ella and her newest cousin Lillian.  Ella was so excited to finally have a girl cousin that she couldn't resist playing dress up, even though  Lillian was only a couple months old.

Here are Seth and Lillian's older brother, Tate.  We were having quite the activity day, dress up, bowling, and memory.  What a fun summer!
